i need you around...

(that title has nothing to do with anything 'cept for the fact that the song's playing right now...)

so anyway, a few interesting things have happened lately... first off, my mother's selling her house, forcing me to get off my ass and find a place to live. fortunately, one of my friends needed a roommate, so i got that covered pretty quickly, thank fortuna. i decided against the non-roommate setup for the sake of saving a few bucks. secondly, thanks to vince moore from the oldskooltrack.com yahoo group, i'm now the proud owner of a sweet 90's vintage cannondale track bike. the goal is to get it built up with a full suntour superbe pro track group, then put in an order for one of jon kendziera's track frames and do a parts swap when i get that for the full oldskool goodness. thirdly, i scored big on the literature front last week: dante's "inferno", william burroughs jr's autobiography, "the dubliners", camus' "the plague", a collection of bunuel scripts and a few other goodies... so i'm all set for march's reading. heh. i think i'm gonna go impress rachel with the news of all the new readage. oh, and i'm currently negotiating w/ the momster for my grandfather's gorgeous glass-front bookcase to house my library.

non-rantage

for once, i'm actually not gonna bitch and moan about how much it sucks. it's been a pretty good week. first, i finally get an apartment without roommates. fuckin brilliant. now, i find out the pixies are touring again, and i'm getting a really sweet cannondale track frame... things are going good. too good... i feel like i might get hit by a car or something soon. there's a dark lining in every silver cloud somewhere...

o/t story: the other night, after i got off work, i was sitting at a table having my shift drink (or maybe my second drink, i disremember). but anyway, some stranger comes up to me and offers me a shot. i normally try to stay away from alcohol, but this time, i had a Bukowski novel right in front of me. so i drank up. it was pretty foul, but i like to think that ol' Chuck would've been proud. actually, he prolly would have scammed the guy for a few more, but i digress...

j is just some guy that rides a trackbike, drinks too much coffee and listens to music. no more, no less.
current book: Celine, "Journey to the Edge of the Night"

next book: dunno. might read "Kentucky Ham" again

current project: bike almost done. lots of riding ahead. still need a new job, and a new city to live in. falling in love would be nice.
